Cosmic Rock

"It is with broken hearts we must share the news of the passing of our friend, our bandmate, our brother Phillip Durr, who died today, after suffering a cardiac arrest while in Germany. Getting his start as guitarist with Big Chief, who recorded albums for Sub Pop and Capitol Records and were a driving force in the ‘90s alternative rock boom, Phil was a beloved and respected member of the Detroit music scene, and an integral part of the Small Stone Records family, playing guitar with the bands Five Horse Johnson and Luder. His skills as a guitarist led to session work at the renowned Rust Belt Studios, and membership in the bands Giant Brain and Variac, which began there as in-house projects. Ultimately, though, Phillip will be remembered as a mensch, a true friend, with a welcoming demeanor and a wicked sense of humor. We love him and will miss him forever." - Small Stone Records Website

All at send their deep condolences to the family and friends of Phil Durr, a great musician and friend to many.
